Dr Mike Perkins heads the Centre for Research & Innovation at British University Vietnam. He is a researcher and speaker on generative AI, assessment and academic integrity, and a creator of the AI Assessment Scale, used by hundreds of schools and universities worldwide. His work helps educators and policymakers respond to AI with practical, ethical approaches.
Dr Mike Perkins is Head of the Centre for Research & Innovation at British University Vietnam in Hanoi. He holds a PhD in Management from the University of York and is an Honorary Reader at the University of St Andrews. His research examines generative AI in education, including assessment design, academic integrity, AI detection, governance, digital equity and synthetic media. Mike is a creator of the AI Assessment Scale, a five-level framework translated into more than 30 languages and used by hundreds of schools and universities worldwide. He works with educators, policymakers and institutional leaders internationally and has spoken for organisations including UNESCO, Amazon Web Services, Times Higher Education and QS.
